Nongpoh, December 22: The Passing Out Parade of the 55th Batch of Basic Course trainees was held at the North Eastern Police Academy (NEPA) on December 22, 2025. The parade was reviewed by Smt. Idashisha Nongrang, IPS, Director General of Police, Meghalaya.
A total of 68 trainees successfully passed out from the 55th Basic Course, comprising 42 Deputy Superintendents of Police (Probationers), one Cadet Inspector, and 25 Cadet Sub-Inspectors/Assistant Sub-Inspectors. Among the trainees, 15 were from Meghalaya, five from Manipur, 24 from Nagaland, 10 from Tripura, and 14 from Sikkim. Out of the total trainees, 21 were women officers.
Since its inception in 1978, NEPA has been conducting Basic Courses annually for newly appointed Deputy Superintendents of Police (Probationers) and Cadet Sub-Inspectors/Assistant Sub-Inspectors of the eight North Eastern States. To date, the academy has trained and passed out 1,043 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 4,221 Sub-Inspectors.
The 55th Basic Course commenced on January 6, 2025. The trainees underwent a well-structured and comprehensive training programme. As per the training module, they were imparted indoor training in subjects such as Police Science, Legal Studies, and Social Sciences, while outdoor training included Drill, Weapons Training, Physical Efficiency, Police Operations, and Tactics. Specialised training inputs were also provided in Disaster Management, First Aid, and Motor Vehicle Driving.
A short Jungle Camp module was organised during which trainees carried out Cordon and Search Operations, Ambush and Counter-Ambush exercises, raids, seizures, and other operational activities. The training aimed to equip the officers with essential skills, knowledge, and aptitude required for effective performance in active service.
To promote overall personality development, camaraderie, team spirit, and sportsmanship, trainees actively participated in various extracurricular activities through clubs such as Extempore and Debate Club, Photography Club, Quiz Club, Sports Club, Social Service Club, Literary Club, and IT Club.
In addition to successfully completing the Basic Course, the trainees also pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Police Administration and Investigation from the Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Jodhpur.
Smt. Idashisha Nongrang, IPS, Director General of Police, Meghalaya, along with Ms. Kavita Jalan, IPS, Director, NEPA, congratulated the young officers for their excellent parade performance and distributed trophies and medals awarded for individual achievements during the training period.
The Passing Out Parade was also attended by Shri Sanbor Shullai, MLA and Minister in-charge of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya.
