Shillong, April 15: In order to deal with any disaster in East Khasi Hill district, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to utilise drone services in such situations.

In this regard, the DDMA of East Khasi Hills has decided to seek the help of private individuals and government agencies owning drones so that such unmanned aerial vehicles could be used whenever any disaater occurs.

The DDMA has also requested all government departments, agencies, organisations and private individuals owning drones within East Khasi Hills district to voluntarily share their details for possible deployment of their drones during disaster situations.

The details sought by the DDMA include the number of drones available, types and models of drones, location, name of owner or department and contact details.

The details can be submitted at the office of DDMA located at the Deputy Commissioner building in Shillong or through email at ddma.eastkhasihills@gmail.com.

According to the DDMA, this is part of the measures to strengthen disaster preparedness and response mechanism.
