Shillong, May 4: A group of people supporting the Deputy Syiem of Hima Sohra, Marremdor Syiem, has decided to stage a protest at the office of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on May 7 to demand his immediate appointment as the Syiem of Hima Sohra.

According to reports, the group has appealed to people of Hima Sohra to join the protest in order to pressurise the KHADC to appoint Marremdor Syiem as the new traditional ruler of Hima Sohra.

Hima Sohra has been running without a full-fledged Syiem after the death of Freeman Sing Syiem on October 31, 2025.

At present, the administration of the Hima is being managed by Acting Chief Mynjurlang Majaw along with the Myntris.

Majaw was appointed as the Acting Chief of Hima Sohra in December 2025 by the KHADC.
