RBYF to seek cancellation of license of Byrnihat gas agency

Nongpoh, May 9: Upset by non-supply of cooking gas to households of Byrnihat area for months, members of the Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) Byrnihat Circle along with women from various villages of the area today marched towards the office of Wankhar Gas Agency at Byrnihat Proper.

According to RBYF Byrnihat Circle president Ricky Lapang, numerous complaints have been received from the people about the delay by the gas agency to distribute cooking gas to them and that people had to wait for months to avail their LPG quota.

“We also got complaints that the owner of the gas agency was very rude to the customers thus raising suspicions of black marketeering of the cooking gas meant for the eligible households,” Lapang said.

He also said that his organisation would soon take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District and also demand for cancellation of the license of the gas agency.

Speaking to media persons, most women alleged that the owner of Wankhar Gas Agency was rude and always verbally abused people who went to collect cooking gas from the outlet of the agency.

“Besides not getting our cooking gas regularly, the owner is causing us to get more upset by her verbal abuse. We can no longer tolerate this,” they said.
