Shillong, Jul 1: A total of 1,19,129 enumeration forms were distributed to electors on the first day of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls yesterday across Meghalaya.
According to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) B D R Tiwari, the process worked smoothly with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visiting each and every house to distribute the enumeration forms and verify the electors.
Among the districts, South West Garo Hills recorded the highest coverage with 20.49 per cent of enumeration form distributed, followed by North Garo Hills (10.25 per cent), South Garo Hills (6.67 per cent) and West Garo Hills (6.5 per cent).
East Khasi Hills, the district with the largest electorate saw distribution of 28,006 enumeration forms accounting for 4.43 per cent of its electors as on July 1 at 3 PM.
The house-to-house verification and distribution of enumeration forms will continue till July 29.
A total of 3551 BLOs are involved in the SIR exercise in Meghalaya.
