Royal Global University Signs MoU with Assam Rifles

Introduces Special Scholarship Schemes for Wards of Defence Personnel

Guwahati, September 25, 2026: Strengthening its commitment to nation-building through education and supporting the families of defence personnel, The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Rifles at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (HQ DGAR), Laitkor, Shillong.

The MoU was signed yesterday in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. Representing RGU was Dr. D. N. Singh, Registrar Academics, while the Assam Rifles was represented by Maj Gen J. S. Bainsla, SM, ADG Assam Rifles, along with Brig Sandip Chatterjee, SM, Brig (Pers), Col. Harmeet Singh and other senior officials.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. D. N. Singh highlighted the significance of the collaboration and outlined the benefits of RGU’s Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha scholarship schemes for the dependents and wards of defence personnel.

Under the MoU, RGU will introduce two dedicated scholarship categories—Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha—for the dependents and wards of defence personnel, covering serving personnel, ex-servicemen, personnel with disabilities and personnel who have died in harness.

The Royal Shaurya Scholarship will provide a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver to the families of martyrs and gallantry awardees. The Royal Suraksha Scholarship will provide a 50 per cent tuition fee concession to the wards of serving and retired defence personnel.
