NONGPOH, NOV 5: The FKJGP Nongpoh Circle, led by its president Precious Khymdeit, on Thursday met Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Dr Abhishek Saini, urging immediate action over non-functional streetlights installed along NH-6 from Jorabat to Umiam.
Speaking to reporters, Khymdeit said the streetlights, despite being installed some time ago, remain non-operational. He also pointed out that several poles have collapsed, while some installations are structurally unstable, posing safety risks to commuters.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the delegation that efforts were being made to address the issue and that a recent meeting involving NHIDCL officials, district authorities and representatives from Ri Bhoi had discussed the matter.
The FKJGP urged the authorities to make the streetlights functional without further delay, warning that the existing condition could endanger road users.
