Modi Says Spoke to Macron on West Asia, Calls for Maritime Safety

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said in a post on X that he received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders discussed the situation in West Asia.

In his post, Modi said both sides agreed on the need to urgently restore safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route for international trade and energy supplies.

“We will continue our close cooperation to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond,” Modi wrote on X.

The interaction highlights the ongoing coordination between India and France on regional security concerns, particularly at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions impacting critical shipping lanes.

Earlier, the Prime Minister also addressed the Lok Sabha during a parliamentary session.
