Shillong, Apr 22: Civil services candidates from Meghalaya who passed the Preliminary Examination conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) will be given financial assistance of Rs 50,000 whereas those who cleared the Main Examination will receive Rs 1 lakh.

The financial assistance is part of the CM – INSPIRE Scheme launched to support aspirants of the national civil services from the State.

Announcing the scheme, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that representation from Meghalaya in the IAS, IPS etc has declined over the years.

“Meghalaya has not seen an indigenous candidate enter the IAS since 2013,” he added.

Stating that the financial assistance is aimed at reducing the finiancial burden faced by aspiring civil services candidates, Sangma informed that the scheme can be applied through the web portal of Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) once the application process opens.
