Umiam,April 26: The Hon’ble Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, Shri Bhagirath Chaudhary Ji, visited the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CAU-Imphal), Umiam, Meghalya on April 26th, 2026. Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU-Imphal, Manipur welcomed the Hon’ble Minister in presence of statutory officers of CAU-Imphal and held an interactive session.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor discussed key issues concerning the agricultural sector, emphasizing the need to address challenges at the grassroots level. Important areas of focus included strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), improving agricultural marketing systems, and enhancing market linkages for better farmer income. The discussion also highlighted the necessity of establishing food safety laboratories to ensure quality and safety of agricultural produce.
The interaction was organised by Prof. Dwipendra Thakuria, Dean, CPGSAS, Umiam, and other officials present were: Dr TR Sharma, Registrar, CAU-Imphal, Dr LM Garnayak, DI, CAU -Imphal, Dr I Sakuntala , Dean, CoVSc., Jalukie, Dr Ram Singh, Dean, COA, Kyrdemkulai along Dr A K Mohanty, Director of ICAR-ATARI, Umiam and Dr G. Kadirvel, ATARI, Guwahati and other stakeholders . Faculty members, staff, and students of CPGSAS were also present during the occasion.
