Shillong, April 27: As violence continued in Manipur leading to loss of lives between various communities, the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has urged both the Centre and Manipur government to immediately intervene to put an end to the bloodshed.
Stating that the very fabric of peaceful coexistence “is being relentlessly eroded”, the NESO in a statement issued today said the violence has inflicted immeasurable suffering on countless families “leaving behind a trail of grief, fear and uncertainty.”
NESO also said that the attacks on civilians struck at the core of human dignity, security and fundamental right to live in peace.
Expressing solidarity with all the victims of the violence, NESO said, “The pain endured by the people is a collective pain shared by the entire North East.”
NESO also flayed the inability of the Centre and the Manipur government to put an end to the violence and said that there is need for urgent intervention to restore peace in the State.
