NTPC to fund STEM labs in 27 government schools of Ri-Bhoi

Nongpoh, May 1: NTPC Limited has entered an agreement with the Ri-Bhoi  district administration for the setting up of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) laboratories in 27 government schools across Ri-Bhoi District under its strategic CSR initiative.

The agreement was signed yesterday (April 30) in a ceremony attended by Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal and NTPC Head of Human Resources (Bongaigaon) Amit Kumar Asthana.

Under the initiative, NTPC will extend financial support of upto Rs 1.48 crore for setting up of fully equipped STEM laboratories in 27 government schools aimed at enhancing scientific temperament, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students.

The project will cover infrastructure development, procurement of modern STEM kits, teacher training, and ongoing maintenance support.

The Ri-Bhoi district administration will be the implementing agency for execution, procurement, quality assurance, and coordination with beneficiary schools.

The STEM laboratories to be fully funded by NTPC Limited will be established within the existing school infrastructure and will include advanced learning tools such as robotics kits, renewal energy models, electronic modules, and digital learning aids. Besides structured teacher training, proper assesment will also be conducted to measure learning outcomes and overall impact.

The project is expected to benefit large number of students across Ri-Bhoi District by providing hands-on exposure to scientific concepts and fostering innovation at the grassroot level.
