Shillong, May 14: Meghalaya will be among the 16 states and three Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be conducted by the Election Commission from next month.
According to the notification issue by the Election Commission today, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house to house enumeration of voters during the SIR exercise.
In Meghalaya, a total of 3551 BLOs will be involved in the screening of voters across 60 constituencies of the State.
As per the Election Commission, the total number of voters in the State as of today is 23,43,252.
The Election Commission has also fixed the schedule for the SIR process in the State.
For Meghalaya, the qualifying date for SIR is October 1, 2026. The preparation, training and printing will be from June 20 to June 29, 2026.
House to house visit by BLOs will be carried out from June 30 to July 29, 2026.
The rationalisation of polling stations will be done on July 29, 2026 while the publication of draft electoral rolls will be on August 5, 2026.
The period for filing of claims and objections is from August 5 to September 4, 2026. The disposal of claims and objections will be from August 5 to October 3, 2026.
The final electoral roll will be published on October 7, 2026.
