Four labourers fall sick after eating wild herb

Shillong, May 14: Four persons had to be rushed to hospital after they fell sick due to consumption of a wild herb in West Khasi Hills District.

Shining Star Sohshang (40) and Alfast Nongkseh (17) from Marang Jaidoh village, Albert Lyngkhoi (28) from Nongsleh village and Phrang Ryntong (20) from Mawkhlam Nongpyndeng fell seriously ill after they ate a wild herb which was cooked with Smilax Ferox (Shiah Krot) and Tapioca (Phan Dieng).

The incident occured yesterday at their labour site in Mawlan area near Langpih. The four persons were fitting water pipeline in the area.

Reports said that after eating the food in the afternoon, the four labourers suffered from headache, vomiting and cramp.

They were immediately taken to Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is now stable.
