Shillong, Jun 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired the 73rd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong.
The session was attended by DONER Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of State for DONER Sukanta Majumdar, governors and chief ministers of all eight north eastern states, and senior officials.
During the session, reports of the high level task forces were presented. Presentations were made by the task forces on Tourism, Agriculture and Horticulture, Investment Promotion, Self Reliance in Milk, Eggs, Fish and Meat, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Economic Corridor Development, and Handicrafts and Handloom.

Briefing media persons, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma termed the plenary session as very productive.
“NEC from just being a funding agency has today become a policy agency creating various thought processes for the North East,” he said.
Sangma also said that he looked forward to seeing the reports presented by the task forces implemented in the next one year.
“We hope that we will see lots of positive results and the coordination by the North East states and the central government ministries towards achieving the common goals,” he added.
