Shillong, Jun 23: Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Shillong has been ranked 60th in India in the IIRF India Ranking 2026 in the category of private universities in the country.
Ashoka University secured the No. 1 position among private universities in the ranking.
The ranking awarded by International Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) recognises higher education institutions for excellence in academics, researchs, placements, and overall institutional performance.
Further, among the private universities, William Carey University, Shillong secured the 62nd rank in the IIRF ranking while ICFAI University, Meghalaya secured the 70th rank followed by USTM Meghalaya which was placed in the 72nd rank.

Among government universities, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong bagged the 28th rank. The top honour was won by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
NIT Meghalaya located in Sohra secured the 78th rank among government engineering institutes. IIT Bombay was ranked at the top.
IIM Shillong ranks at No. 13 among government business schools in India. The top position was bagged by IIM Ahmedabad.
Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Shillong got the 37th rank among government hospitality institutes in India. The No. 1 position was won by IHM Mumbai.
