Nongpoh, July 6: Three young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Monday evening after the scooty they were travelling on collided with a parked truck along the Shillong Bypass road at Umroi in Ri-Bhoi district.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred at around 8:30 pm near the football ground at Umroi on the Shillong Bypass.
Sources said the three youths were riding on a scooty when they reportedly rammed into a truck that was parked by the roadside. The impact of the collision was severe, and all three sustained critical injuries, leading to their deaths at the scene.

The identities of the deceased were not immediately known at the time of filing this report. However, local sources indicated that all three youths were residents of Umden Umsaitprah.
Following the incident, personnel from the Khapmara Police Investigation Centre (PIC) rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Police are currently conducting further inquiries, and additional details are awaited as the investigation progresses. Authorities have yet to officially confirm the identities of the victims and the exact cause of the crash.
