Shillong, Jul 15: A man accused of killing his own sister in a village in South West Khasi Hills District has been apprehended and is now under police custody.
Bailing Wahlang (62) who stabbed his sister Snity Wahlang (56) to death in her residence yesterday at Pyndenumsaw village had absconded after committing the crime.
He was captured by villagers of nearby Rohbah village today morning and taken to the community hall of Pyndenumsaw village where he was detained.
The villagers immediately informed the Mawkyrwat Police Station about the apprehension of the accused.
A team from Mawkyrwat Police Station rushed to Pyndenumsaw and arrested Bailing.
Bailing was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mawkyrwat today who remanded the accused to one-day police custody in order to enable the police to further interrogate him and also to retrieve the murder weapon.
