Shillong, Jul 22: There is continued anger and disgust at the recent social media post by Meghalaya BJP youth wing president Mewanker Lyngdoh Pakma who openly called for shooting the students currently protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Pakma made a recent Instagram post which reads “Shoot them! Tear gas ain’t enough!”.
The VPP youth wing today issued a statement denouncing the comment made by Pakma and termed it as “hunger for power with bloodstain”.
“A leader who casually asks for student protesters to be shot has lost all moral right to lead the youth. This is not leadership – this is a dangerous display of fascist ideology where you want to gain power by shedding the blood of your own people,” the VPP youth wing said.
It also said that the call for slapping of UAPA, sedition law and bullets on unarmed civilians showed that for such leaders “democracy is dead and only dictatorship matters”.

“If leaders with such bloostained power hunger come to power in Meghalaya, they will bring nothing but chaos, violence and deep division to our community. They will destroy the very principles of accountability, transparency and system that we are fighting to build in Meghalaya,” the VPP youth wing added.
It also said that the youth of Meghalaya wanted clean and accountable governance “not leaders who call for shooting us down when we ask questions”.
