Nongpoh, July 29:The 67 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Shillong inaugurated a free computer training programme under its Civic Action Programme at the Regional Institute of Advanced Studies (RIAS), Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi district.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Commandant Jai Singh of 67 Bn CRPF, Polo Ground, Shillong, on July 27, 2026. The initiative is aimed at equipping underprivileged students with essential computer skills while fostering closer relations between the CRPF and the local community in Nongpoh, where the battalion is currently deployed for law and order duties.
The training programme will run from July 27 to September 30, 2026, with 14 underprivileged students enrolled in the course. During the two-month training, participants will receive free instruction in Fundamentals of Computers and Microsoft Office, helping them builds valuable digital skills for education and future employment opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Jai Singh highlighted the importance of digital literacy in today’s world and reiterated the CRPF’s commitment to supporting community welfare through meaningful civic initiatives.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Inspector (GD) Ajit Kumar, Officer Commanding of E/67 Bn CRPF, Skhemborlang Sweet, Managing Director of the Regional Institute of Advanced Studies (RIAS) along with faculty members and other CRPF personnel.
The Civic Action Programme reflects the CRPF’s continued efforts to contribute to the socio-economic development of local communities while promoting trust, cooperation, and positive engagement with the people of Ri-Bhoi district.
