Shillong, Jul 30: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the 60 Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya has ended and names of 23,49,645 electors have been digitised.
As per data provided by the Election Department, 7,75,337 (33 per cent) electors have been mapped as ‘Self’ with their own electoral records successfully linked to the SIR 2005 database.
11,69,670 (49.78 per cent) electors have been mapped as ‘Progeny’ with their records linked to the electoral rolls of their parents available in the SIR 2005 database.
A total of 2,24,234 (9.54 per cent electors of the total electorate) could be linked with the records of the SIR 2005. These electors have been categorised under the ‘No Mapping’ category.
‘No Mapping’ cases will undergo detailed verification during the Notice Phase, including the period for disposal of claims and objections which is scheduled from August 5 to October 3. During this period, electors will be given opportunity to furnish necessary documents before any decision is taken on their electoral status.

During the SIR exercise, as many as 1,80,404 (7.8 per cent) of the total electorate have been identified under the category of Absent, Shifted, Deceased, Duplicate (ASDD).
The ASDD breakup showed 81,490 (3.4 per cent) electors deceased, 45,013 (1.92 per cent) not returning the enumeration form, 42,532 (1.81 per cent) permanently shifted, 4668 (0.20 per cent) who refused to take the enumeration form and 6701 (0.29 per cent) who are duplicate electors.
“With the completion of the enumeration phase, the election machinery will now focus on the verification of ‘No Mapping’ and ‘ASDD’ cases and the completion of all statutory processes leading to the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 5 in accordance with the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India,” said Yvette R. Mawlong, Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya.
