Nongpoh, August 27, 2026: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) hosted the prestigious national youth dialogue “Khelo India Samvad: PM Ke Sath” on the eve of National Sports Day 2026. USTM was among the select premium educational institutions across India chosen by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to participate in the exclusive national programme, bringing pride to Meghalaya and the Northeast.
The programme commenced with many students, athletes, youth leaders, social influencers, volunteers and sports enthusiasts participating from the USTM campus. The key highlight was the live virtual address by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Addressing the youth, the Prime Minister emphasised that sports extend beyond physical excellence. He urged young people to channel their energy towards sports, fitness and constructive activities, highlighting their role in building a healthier, stronger and drug-free India under the vision of “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”

The USTM campus programme also witnessed the distinguished presence of Dr Sondeep Honsey, Mr Ruskin Talukdar and Ms Anamriya Borouah, senior officials of the State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Decorated sportspersons, Youth Icons, NSS officials and a large contingent of MY Bharat volunteers also participated, making the programme a vibrant platform for youth empowerment, sports promotion, social awareness and collective action against substance abuse.
