SHILLONG, NOV 2: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has clarified that there was no pressure from the government on UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh to resign from the Cabinet.

Conrad made the statement after the swearing-in ceremony of newly inducted minister Paul Lyngdoh.

Paul Lyngdoh, the MLA from Shillong West, recently left the United Democratic Party (UDP) to join the National People’s Party (NPP), which leads the ruling MDA-II coalition government.

Speaking to reporters, Conrad said that in politics, there are occasions when decisions taken do not satisfy everyone.

He maintained that Metbah was not pressured by anyone in the government to step down from the Cabinet.

“It was Metbah’s personal decision. There was no pressure from the government for him to resign,” Conrad said.
