SHILLONG, NOV 2: Newly sworn-in Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh has said he has sought the Tourism portfolio with the aim of promoting and strengthening tourism across Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters, Paul said that although he had not specifically requested the portfolio from the Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma had expressed his desire to see continuity in various initiatives undertaken by the Tourism Department.
“The Chief Minister wanted me to take charge of the Tourism Department, which I gladly accepted. I hope to move forward and address the challenges hindering the growth of tourism in the state,” Paul said.
He added that he would convene meetings in the coming days to ensure that the tourism sector is brought back on track and functions in a more organised manner.
