Shillong, September 17: Shillong Airport today successfully celebrated ‘Yatri Sewa Diwas’ with a series of cultural programmes, welfare initiatives, and the inauguration of new passengers friendly facilities, reaffirming its commitment to providing a seamless and enriching travel experience.
Passengers arriving at the airport were warmly welcomed with flowers and traditional hospitality. The terminal came alive with the vibrant Ka Shad Synrai folk dance performed by a local troupe, which delighted travelers and highlighted Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage.
On the occasion, Shillong Airport inaugurated several new amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort:
Kids’ Zone – a dedicated play space for children.
Library – offering books and reading material for travelers.
AVSAR – an outlet enabling local artisans and craftsmen to showcase and sell their products inside the terminal.
Workstation Zone – providing facilities for passengers who wish to continue their professional work while traveling.
In addition, the airport organized various interactive and welfare initiatives, including quiz and painting competitions for children, a free health check-up counter for travelers and taxi drivers, and a blood donation camp in collaboration with local health authorities. Speaking on the occasion, the Airport Director of Shillong Airport Sh. Rajeev Ranjan said:
“The celebrations of Yatri Sewa Diwas reflect our commitment to placing passengers at the heart of our services.
