Three-Day CAU–IX Youth Festival-cum-Games & Sports Meet 2025 Concludes Successfully

Nongpoh, November 17: The 9th CAU Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival-cum-Games & Sports Meet 2025 of the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, concluded successfully today at the College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai (CAU-I). The event was flagged off on 15th November 2025 at the College of Post-Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGS-AS), Umiam, and continued across other constituent colleges of CAU.

Organized under the leadership of Dr. Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU Imphal, the three-day festival witnessed enthusiastic participation, spirited competitions and vibrant cultural displays from 420 students representing all 13 constituent colleges of the university.

The valedictory session marked the culmination of a wide array of events celebrating youth talent, creativity, sportsmanship and academic excellence. Students participated eagerly in athletics, indoor and outdoor sports, fine arts, literary competitions, cultural events and performing arts. This year’s festival also featured motivational sessions, a business meet, Thinkathon, a happiness fair and expert talks on mental well-being and the integration of AI and LLMs in education and research—providing a holistic platform for student growth and development.

The programme began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dwipendra Thakuria, Dean, CPGS-AS, Umiam, and the event’s organizer. He expressed great satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the festival and acknowledged the efforts of faculty members, staff and student coordinators who contributed to its success. This was followed by a brief report on the Youth Festival-cum-Games & Sports Meet presented by Prof. Indira Sarangthem, Director of Instruction, CAU Imphal, highlighting the wide range of activities organized over the three days.

In his presidential address, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU Imphal, commended the enthusiasm, discipline and creativity displayed by the students throughout the festival. He emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities in nurturing dynamic, confident and socially responsible agricultural graduates.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, who attended as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Shri Amitav Roy, Deputy Inspector General, Border Security Force, Shillong; Dr. S. Hazarika, Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region; Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Umiam; Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone VI, Guwahati; Shri Pawan Tiwari, Pragjyotish University, Guwahati; and Shri Vasant Pandit, Deendayal Research Institute. All dignitaries addressed the gathering and congratulated the participants for their remarkable performances.

The highlight of the valedictory function was the prize distribution ceremony, during which winners of various sports, literary, arts and cultural events were felicitated. Trophies, medals and certificates were awarded to the best-performing colleges and outstanding individual achievers, celebrating their talent, perseverance and excellence.
