Nongpoh, May 25: One person sustained serious injuries after a vehicle overturned along National Highway-6 at Lumumpih on the Shillong–Guwahati lane on Sunday afternoon.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 2:15 PM involving a vehicle bearing registration number AS 01KC 2276, driven by Shri Nayan Mani Baruah, son of Nagen Baruah and a resident of Assam. The vehicle was travelling from Shillong towards Guwahati with six occupants on board.

Police sources stated that upon reaching the Lumumpih area, the vehicle’s front tyre allegedly burst, reportedly due to suspected overspeeding, causing the vehicle to lose control and turn turtle on the road.
As a result of the accident, one occupant suffered serious injuries and was immediately shifted by a 108 ambulance to Umsning Community Health Centre (CHC). The injured person was later referred to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh, for further treatment.
The damaged vehicle was subsequently towed to the police station for safe custody and necessary legal formalities. Authorities have initiated further investigation into the incident.
