Shillong, May 15: A resident of Pynter village in East Khasi Hills has sought strict legal action over the death of his 27-year-old son, Trophimos Khongmawloh, alleging that he was assaulted before his death.
Speaking to reporters, the victim’s father, Netnobiweit Khongsdoh, claimed he noticed serious head injuries and blood stains when he was finally able to see the body of his son.
Netnobiweit said he filed an FIR at Sadar Police Station in Shillong on May 8, alleging that the incident occurred inside the Dorbar Hall of Pynter village on the night of May 7. In the complaint, he accused village headman Fullmoon Khongsdoh along with members of the Village Defence Party (VDP) of being involved in the alleged assault.
He further alleged that the body was brought home in a sack and remained there until the following day. The grieving father also said some villagers claimed that his son had died after consuming poison, but he found the explanation difficult to believe after reportedly watching a video related to the incident.
According to him, the condition of the body and the visible injuries suggested that his son may have been subjected to severe violence.
Demanding justice, Netnobiweit appealed to the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure strict action against all those found responsible in the case.
