Guwahati, May 14: Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Wednesday visited The Assam Royal Global University and participated in a series of programmes focused on promoting sports culture, student engagement, and environmental awareness on the university campus.
During the visit, the Minister officially inaugurated “The Zenith,” the newly established food court facility of the university, along with a new Pickleball Court aimed at encouraging recreational and sporting activities among students.
As part of the programme, a plantation drive was also organised within the campus to promote environmental consciousness and sustainability initiatives.
Following the inauguration, the Minister interacted with students and faculty members and also played a brief game of pickleball, appreciating the university’s efforts in promoting emerging sports and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among young people.
Addressing the media, Shylla highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the youth through discipline, teamwork, leadership, and confidence. He said educational institutions should continue creating opportunities that contribute to the physical, social, and academic development of students.
The Minister also attended an interactive session with students from Meghalaya studying at the university, where he encouraged them to actively participate in sports, leadership activities, and youth development initiatives while pursuing academic excellence.
He further appreciated the university for providing modern infrastructure and quality educational opportunities to students from across the Northeast region.
The programme was attended by university officials, faculty members, students, and dignitaries, making the occasion a significant event for the university community.
