Umsning, May 25: A day a group of students were reportedly not permitted to carry out Christian worship at the campus of College of Agriculture at Kyrdemkulai, a delegation of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Umsning Circle today visited the institution to find out the facts of the incident.
The KSU delegation led by its president Lestar Nongbet met the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Prof. Ram Singh and asked him about the reasons for not allowing the Christian students to do worship services inside the college campus.
Briefing media persons after the meeting, Nongbet said that the KSU members told Prof. Singh of their resentment over his restriction on worship services by Christian students in the campus.

“During other religious festivals like Puja and Diwali, the college campus is fully decorated with lights and other decorations and nobody objected to that. Why are students from the Christian community disallowed from worshipping in the campus?” Nongbet asked.
The KSU leader also said that Prof. Singh has assured that no more restrictions would be imposed on worship activities by Christian students inside the campus of the college.
