Nongpoh, May 23: A meeting of the College Extension Advisory Committee (CEAC) was held at the College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai on May 22 to deliberate on strengthening agricultural extension services and improving market linkages for farmers in Meghalaya.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ram Singh, Dean of the College, while Dr. V.P. Chahal, former Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, New Delhi, attended the programme as the chief guest and external expert.

Several distinguished dignitaries and experts participated in the meeting, including Dr. P.K. Bora, Professor and former Director of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management; Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Umiam; Shiv Anjan Dalmia, Director of Agrozonex Farm near the College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai; Dr. B.P. Singh, Head, DTAC, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, along with representatives from ICAR; Aiban Swer, Director, Meghalaya Basin Development Authority; Remdor Dkhar, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Planning), Government of Meghalaya; Dr. G. Hyniewta, Assistant Director and Manager of the Regional Poultry Breeding Farm, Kyrdemkulai; and Pralad Toor, Vice-President of Ri-lajong FPO, Nongpoh. Faculty members from CPGSAS, Umiam, and the College of Agriculture, Kyrdemkulai were also present.
An Action Taken Report (ATR) was presented by Dr. Victoria Devi during the meeting.
During the deliberations, experts highlighted the technological linkage gap between research institutions and stakeholders, stressing the need to strengthen the transfer of technology to farmers and other beneficiaries.
The experts also underscored the importance of creating better market opportunities for indigenous horticultural products of the state and improving the demand and supply system in Meghalaya to ensure sustainable agricultural development.
