Nongpoh, May 13: The Umsning Patarim Youth Organisation continued its community welfare initiatives by organising a programme to distribute gifts, aid materials and tokens of appreciation to elderly citizens, youths, specially-abled persons and children after previously conducting awareness sessions for school students and local residents.
The programme was attended by noted social figure Bah Ransom Sutnga as the chief guest. The event also witnessed the presence of Ri Bhoi District Social Welfare Officer Kong N.F. Sun, other officials, school students, elderly residents and members of the local community.
Speaking on the occasion, Bah Ransom Sutnga praised the humanitarian efforts of the Umsning Patarim Youth Organisation and described such acts of kindness as being similar to the spirit of “Cornelius,” referring to individuals known for charitable and selfless service to society. He stated that the leaders and members of the organisation are playing an important role in serving the community.
The District Social Welfare Officer also addressed the gathering and shared information on various government welfare schemes available for girls, women and specially-abled persons.
The programme concluded with the distribution of gifts, awards and tokens of appreciation to beneficiaries selected by the Umsning Patarim Youth Organisation.
