Shillong, Nov 4: BJP coordinator for the North East Region, Rajiv Babbar today accused Congress and other opposition parties of having soft corner for infiltrators by opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral roll.

Babbar who is on a visit to Meghalaya, told media persons at the party office today that SIR was a constitutional exercise under Article 324 and not a BJP-driven exercise.

“Meghalaya people want to elect their government and chief minister with their own vote, not through infiltrators,” he said.

Countering the Opposition’s claim of 13 crore voters deleted from the electoral rolls in India, Babbar said that 2.8 crore voters have died, one crore others are duplicate voters and 6.3 crore are voters who have shifted to another place and constituency.

“There are only two things – they (opposition parties) cannot convince people. So now they are confused. They have great love for infiltrators and have no response to the development model of Narendra Modi,” Babbar added.
