NONGPOH, NOVEMBER 7: Residents of the Amjong area, predominantly inhabited by the Lalung (Tiwa) community under Mawhati Constituency, expressed happiness after Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma visited the area and interacted directly with them to understand the challenges faced by people living along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
During his visit to Amjong village, the Chief Minister organised a special programme under the CM-Connect initiative, providing residents an opportunity to interact with him directly and highlight their problems.
During the interaction, residents raised several concerns, including inadequate electricity supply, drinking water facilities, educational infrastructure, lack of banking services and other basic amenities.
Responding to their grievances, Conrad assured the residents that the government would look into the issues affecting people in the area.
He also stressed that developmental initiatives should not be confined to urban areas or more developed villages but must reach every rural settlement across the state, particularly those located along the Assam border.
