Shillong, Jul 13: Meghalaya police are trying to track down the three men from Uttar Pradesh accused of vandalising a homestay in Shillong and assaulting the caretaker.
The owner of Oakwood Homestay located at Risa Colony has filed a complaint to police against Akash Singh, Akhand Singh Suryavanshi and Vikash Singh for alleged vandalism and assault when they stayed at the homestay recently. The video of the vandalism posted on Instagram has since gone viral.
According to the owner, the three guests brought unauthorised visitors during their stay and also consumed alcohol besides smoking inside the rooms despite clear ‘no smoking’ instruction.
The owner also alleged that when the three guests were asked to leave the homestay, one of them Akhand Singh Suryavanshi physically assaulted the caretaker.

In the video posted on the incident, it was seen that the rooms were strewn with rubbish, the damage on the wall, vomit in the flower pot and sink, stains on walls, the entire room wet, and burn marks on the floor
“All the efforts to put up a homestay property for the comfortable stay of guests. And this is how some of them treat the property with zero civic sense!” read the caption of the video.
The owner has also urged homestay owners in Shillong and across Meghalaya not to provide accomodation to the three persons from now onwards.

Even a foreign tourist who had stay earlier in the homestay shared the video of the rampage on his Instagram account. “To see their property ruined like this really hurts,” he said.
