SHILLONG, NOV 2: Days after joining the National People’s Party (NPP), former United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Paul Lyngdoh was on Monday sworn in as a new minister in the NPP-led MDA-II government, following the resignation of Metbah Lyngdoh from the state Cabinet.

Paul Lyngdoh took the oath of office at Raj Bhavan, administered by Governor C. H. Vijayashankar in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, other Cabinet ministers and NPP leaders.

His induction into the Cabinet comes amid significant political realignments in the state, following the movement of eight UDP MLAs to the BJP and three others to the NPP, including Paul Lyngdoh, who shifted from the UDP to the ruling NPP.

His swearing-in also follows Metbah Lyngdoh’s resignation from the state Cabinet, paving the way for the latest change in the ministerial lineup.
