Shillong, May 12: The new road by-passing Umiam dam bridge will be opened for traffic tomorrow.

However, there are restrictions on the types of vehicles especially trucks plying on this new road.

According to the order issued today, articulated trucks will not be allowed on this road.

Only rigid trucks having upto three axles with two tyres in front axle and eight tyres in two-tandem axle in the back will be allowed.

Night buses will be permitted to ply on the new road between 9 PM to 7 AM daily. However, they cannot proceed to Shillong city. They have to park at the Inter-State Bus Terminal at Mawïong Rim.
