Shillong, Jul 21: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has lent its full support and solidarity to the ongoing students’ movement led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in New Delhi.
The youth wing of the VPP in a statement issued today said that the issues raised by the students against corruption, nepotism, and political interference in public institutions are related to the “future of democracy and governance across India”.
“We have consistently maintained that corruption and nepotism weaken public institutions, deny deserving citizens equal opportunities, and erode people’s faith in the democratic system. It is therefore encouraging to see these principles now resonating with people in other parts of the country,” the statement said.
The VPP youth wing said that the fight against corruption, nepotism, and the politicisation of institutions is a national cause that deserved the support of every citizen committed to justice, transparency, and good governance.
Stating that it remained firm with these values, the party said that it as never hesitated to raise its voice against injustice and in defence of the rights and interest of the youth.
“As the party has already made clear in recent months, it remains fully prepared to once again launch democratic public movements whenever the interests of the youth and the people of Meghalaya so demand,” the VPP youth wing concluded.
