Skill development tools for inmates at rehab centres

Shillong, April 13: The Drug Reduction, Elimination and Action Mission (DREAM) in collaboration with Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Shillong has procured skill development tools for rehabilitation centres in the State with the objectives of imparting practical training and livelihood-oriented skills for drug addicts undergoing treatment at various rehabilitation centres.

Experts of ITI Shillong will be conducting hands-on training sessions to ensure effective utilisation of these tools.

The formal handing over of the tools will take place at the DREAM office at Lower Lachaumiere, Shillong on April 14 followed by an overview of the training programme and its intended impact on rehabilitation outcomes.

This initiative is a shift towards holistic recovery – focussing not only on treatments of drug users but also on their dignity, self reliance and long term integration into the society.
