“State Government Bears Expenses for Young Footballers’ Participation”.
Shillong, June 27: Twenty-five young footballers from Meghalaya are set to receive a major opportunity to showcase their talent on the international stage as Ryntih Football Club, Shillong will participate in the International Iber Cup 2026 to be held in Estoril (Lisbon), Portugal.
The prestigious Under-14 Boys’ International Iber Cup 2026 will be held from June 29 to July 5, 2026.
Ryntih Football Club will not only represent Meghalaya but also India, as it is the only team from the country selected to participate in this year’s Iber Cup.
The club expressed immense pride in leading the young footballers to one of the world’s premier youth football tournaments. The opportunity has been made possible through the support of the Meghalaya Government, with the Sports and Youth Affairs Department taking responsibility for sponsoring the players’ participation expenses.
The Meghalaya Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, granted permission for the team to participate in the tournament in Portugal. The Chief Minister also announced that the state government would bear all expenses for the 25 players representing Meghalaya and India at the Iber Cup 2026.

Both Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma not only assured full financial support for the team’s participation but also extended their best wishes, expressing confidence that the young footballers, through Ryntih Football Club, would bring pride and honour to both Meghalaya and the nation.
Meanwhile, Ryntih Football Club CEO Evarist Myrsing conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla for the government’s unwavering support. He said the government’s assistance had enabled the young players to participate in the prestigious Iber Cup 2026, describing it as a remarkable opportunity and a blessing for the children to display their footballing talent on one of the world’s biggest youth football platforms.
