Truck Loses Control at Petrol Pump in Byrnihat, Injuring Driver

Nongpoh, July 28:  A truck loaded with clinker lost control while entering a petrol pump in Ri Bhoi District on Tuesday, colliding with a second truck that was refueling and then striking a fuel dispensing unit, police said.

The incident occurred at the 17th Mile Petrol Pump, Byrnihat. The truck, bearing registration No. AS-01-UC-5013, struck the vehicle with registration No. NL-01-AA-6013 before damaging the pump equipment, according to initial accounts.

The driver of the clinker-laden truck sustained injuries and was first taken to Byrnihat Primary Health Centre. He was later referred to ARHI Hospital for further treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Police arrived at the scene and began the required legal formalities. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. The damaged truck remained at the petrol pump and was expected to be removed once arrangements were completed.
