Nongpoh, May 13: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) RIST USTM Unit today expressed serious concern to the Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) and submitted a complaint letter regarding the poor maintenance of cleanliness in the hostels as well as the quality of food being provided to students.
The union raised the issue following complaints received from several students, who alleged that hostel cleanliness was not being properly maintained and that the food served to students was not fit for consumption.

Prior to submitting the complaint to the Chancellor, members of the union conducted an inspection of the hostels both inside and outside the university campus. During the inspection, the union reportedly found unhygienic conditions and poor sanitation, which they said could pose health risks to students.
In this regard, the union has urged the Chancellor and the university authorities to take the matter seriously. The union also warned that it would not remain a mere spectator and stated that further inspections would be carried out in the days ahead to ensure that proper cleanliness is maintained across the university campus and that hygienic food is served to students.
