Shillong, May 22: The election to elect the new member to the Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya will be held on June 18 and the results will be known on the same day at 5 PM.
This was announced by the Election Commission today.
At present, the MP to the Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya is Dr. Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi of the NPP.
Dr. Kharlukhi was elected to the Upper House on June 19, 2020 by MLAs from the State.

Backed by all the parties in the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), he defeated opposition Congress candidate Kennedy Khyriem by a margin of 20 votes.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the Rajya Sabha election will be notified on June 1.
The last date for filing of nomination by candidates is June 8. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on June 9.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 11.
So far no political party has announced the canddate for the Rajya Sabha poll in Meghalaya.
