Shillong, May 22: Roadside vendors will no longer be allowed to operate on the sides of the four-lane road from Rilbong Point to Hynñiew Mer in Upper Shillong.
It may be noted that several makeshift shops mostly selling fruits have appeared along this newly constructed four-lane road especially in Rilbong Point, Lai Mer Shiteng and Hynñiew Mer.
A meeting was convened by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah on May 15 to discuss on encroachment of the right of way (ROW) by roadside vendors along this road and the danger posed to them from speeding vehicles besides the traffic jam caused by vehicles that stop to buy from these vendors.
