Guwahati, May 23: Assam created history as Rupamoni Gorh from Golaghat district became the first woman from the state to successfully scale Mount Everest as part of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) all-women expedition team.
The achievement was widely celebrated across Assam after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Rupamoni Gorh through a post on his official X account, describing her feat as a moment of immense pride for the state and an inspiration for the youth.
