Shillong, Jul 23: State government employees in Meghalaya are going to enjoy new benefits from the State Bank of India (SBI).
The State government and SBI today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for implementation of the State Government Salary Package (SGSP) aimed at strengthening employees welfare.
The revised agreement replaces the earlier MOU signed in 2012. The new agreement offers a range of benefits to State government employees having salary accounts with SBI. The benefits will apply to both existing employees and newly recruited ones. As of June 30, 2026, there are more than 43,000 State government employees maintaining their salary accounts with the SBI under the SGSP.

The revised SGSP introduces several enhanced features, including the addition of a Rhodium salary package category, personal accident insurance of upto Rs 1 crore, air accident insurance of upto Rs 1.60 crore, group term life insurance, and concession on processing fee for personal loan, home loan, education loan and vehicle loan.
The new package also offers upgraded RuPay, Visa and Mastercard debit cards, YONO SBI, digital banking services, free online fund transfer, and free family banking benefits under SBI Rishtey.
Today’s signing of the MOU between officials of the State government and SBI was also witnessed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
