Weightlifter Mirabai Chandu Clinches First Gold For India

New Delhi, Jul 27: Mirabai Chandu broke the Commonwealth Games 2026 record for India by clinching the gold medal in the women’s 48 kg category in Glasgow yesterday.

This is India’s first gold medal in the current Commonwealth Games.

With Chanu’s victory, India has now grabbed four medals in the Commonwealth Games, all of them in weightlifting.

Raja Muthupandi bagged a silver medal in the men’s 65 kg category while Rishikanta Singh got silver medal in the men’s 60 kg category. Para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar secured the bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight category.
