Nongpoh, Jul 27: One person died on the spot and two others were seriously injured after the scooter they were riding was rammed by an unknowned truck.
The incident occured today at around 12:35 am at Umïam Dyke.
According to police, the person who died was identified as Rahul Ch Sangma of Kapisaparavillage in South Garo Hills District.
Rahul suffered severe head injuries leading to his death. He was identified from his Aadhaar card found in his pocket.

The two other injured persons were rushed to Shillong Civil Hospital by a ‘108’ ambulance.
“Skid marks suspected to be that of a truck can be seen on the road. It seems it’s a hit and run case,” police said.
The dead body has been shifted to the morgue at Nongpoh Civil Hospital and police are waiting for family members to take over the body.
The scooter bears registration number ML05AG7001. The truck that hit and fled the scene is yet to be traced.
Police said that necessary action would be taken after further enquiry from the injured persons and a case would be registered accordingly.
