The Supreme Court ordered the setting up of the enquiry committee following a batch of petitions alleging police highhandedness during the students’ march to Parliament on July 20.

The student protest led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) began at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 20 and spreaded to other cities in India.

The protest was called off on July 25 after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. His resignation was the main demand of the students who blamed him for the recurrent leakage of NEET question papers.
