NH-6 From Byrnihat To Jorobat Wore Deserted Look, Following Crackdown Of Illegal Parking Of Trucks By Ri Bhoi Police

Nongpoh, October 26: The stretch of National Highway-6 from Byrnihat to Jorabat in Ri Bhoi District wore a deserted look following a recent crackdown on illegal truck parking, which had long posed a serious threat to local commuters and public transport plying along this busy highway.

It may be mentioned that the Ri Bhoi Police, under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) V.S. Rathore, recently carried out an extensive vehicle-checking operation to detect violations of traffic rules—particularly illegal roadside parking by truckers. Following the operation, it was observed that the illegal parking of trucks along the highway had largely disappeared, allowing smooth and safe movement of public vehicles—unlike before when traffic congestion was a common sight.

During the inspection drive, several traffic violators were penalized for offences such as illegal parking, drunk driving, rash driving, and failure to wear helmets or seatbelts. The operation has notably improved traffic flow and ensured safer travel along the highway.

The Ri Bhoi Police have assured that such enforcement drives will continue to ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations and that violators will face action under the relevant provisions of law.

Appealing to the public, the police urged all commuters to cooperate in maintaining road safety and to promptly report any violations to the Ri Bhoi Police, so that road accidents can be prevented and to ensure the safety of all travellers through this very busy highway in Ri Bhoi District.
